Weather In Tenerife

The weather for Canary Islands and more importantly, the weather in Tenerife, is known for having the greatest weather all year round. These groups of islands are located just 60 miles from Africa and enjoy high temperatures year round.

The Canary Islands are beginning to see an increase for tourism, especially during the winter months due to the warmer weather. As with any place on earth you shouldn’t expect sun shine all the time. Like other places in the world the Tenerife does have a winter season and can get a chill spell, day and night. For both foreign and neighboring inhabitants, the weather in Tenerife is the reason they choose this island to take a vacation there.
Tenerife has been one of the most popular tourist destinations for many people. Tenerife is known for its beautifully-long sandy beaches, great all year round weather, as well as their wonderful attractions and scenery. There is no wonder to why Tenerife has been so popular with countless tourists for all these years.

Tenerife is the largest of the Canary Islands and the resort of Puerto de la Cruz is one of the largest tourist resorts on the island. It is able to accommodate around 30,000 people at one time. Also, any hired car can drive you to and from the resort at any time for your convenience.

Tenerife is located towards the centre of the Canary Islands and has a surface area of 2,034 km². Like all of the Canary Islands, Tenerife was volcanically created. Do not let this trouble you in any way since the last three eruptions that created the island happened a little over 3 million years ago. Tenerife has the highest mountain point in all of Spain, which has been deemed Mount Teide. This mountain is reported to be 3,717 mi high and is a great tourist spot since people can see the whole island from its peak.

The weather found in Tenerife has and still is one of the most enjoyable in the world. The winters are considered to be very mild and the summers are hot but not overpowering. Average summer temperatures rarely drop below 15ºC or go above 30ºC.  The temperature is overall very similar in the northern and the southern parts of the island. When visiting the Mount Teide national park, keep in mind that it can get very cold there when it has their snowfall in winter.

Tenerife in general has very little rainfall and extremely dry summers in both of the northern and southern parts of the island. During the months of October through March, there are the occasional showers which are found in the northern part of the island.
Be sure to use plenty of sun cream no matter which season or which part of the island you visit as the sun is almost always shining and is very powerful.

In winter the temperatures are still very pleasant and this combined with the many clear sky and sunny days allow locals and tourists alike to spend plenty of hours outdoors.
