Minimum Age
In order to rent a car in Tenerife you must be 23 years of age or older.
Rental Period
When using Tenerife car hire the minimum amount of time that you can hire a car for is 24 hours.
Seat belts
In accordance with local laws, seat belts must be worn at all times.
Border Restrictions
You are not permitted to take your hire car out of Tenerife. Rental cars must remain on the island at all times. Under no circumstances must you take your rental car on the ferry between the islands.
One-way rentals
A one-way rental scheme is not available in Tenerife.
Smoking
There are no particular smoking policies regarding Tenerife car hire. Any damage caused to your rental car due to smoking will however be charged for.
Mileage Allowance
Tenerife car hire policies do not include a mileage allowance. You are therefore permitted to drive as many kilometers as you wish.
Third Party Motor
Liability Insurance
The third party motor liability insurance that is provided with your Tenerife rental car is done so in accordance with Spanish legislation.
Roadside Assistance
When you purchase a hire car in Tenerife roadside assistance is also provided. This is however only provided between certain hours. The phone number for the roadside assistance is provided with your rental agreement when you pick up your hire car.
Taxes and surcharges
Your Tenerife hire car booking includes all local taxes and the premium location fee. There are no other hidden charges that you will be expected to pay.
Deposit
When you hire a car in Tenerife an imprint of your credit card will be taken for security. This is done when you collect your vehicle and this is common practice for all car hire companies.
Refunds
If you return your hire car early there will be no credit given for the unused rental period.
Booking Cancellation
If you cancel your car hire booking within 48 hours of your collection date, a minimum surcharge of 50% will still be taken. This surcharge is dependant on seasonal variants.
Supplementary Charges
Additional Driver(s)
There are no additional charges for having extra drivers on your policy. You are allowed a maximum of 3 drivers per rental car. All additional drivers must however produce their driving licenses.
Fuel
It is the policy of all Tenerife hire car companies that you return your hire care with the same amount of fuel as when you collected it. This information can be found on your vehicles documents which are located in your glove box and on your hire contract.
Fines and penalties
It is your responsibility to pay any parking fines or other penalties that you many incur whilst driving your rental car. Any charges that are incurred will be forwarded to you plus any additional expenses. These can be paid locally by you.
Out of hours charge
There is no out of hours service available.
Late returns
You are liable for a late return fee if your hire car is returned later than the time that is specified in your rental agreement.
Lost keys
If you do not return your hire car keys your will be charged for this. This can be paid locally by you.
Special requests
The following items are available on request.
Child seat are available and there is no charge for these. You will be required to fit the child seat yourself.
Other special requests are catered for. These are available subject to availability and season. You will be provided with the location of these items.
Cleaning fee
A cleaning fee will be charged if your rental car is returned in an unacceptable condition or if it requires a special washing. This is paid locally by you.
Insurance
The customer understands that all insurance cover is provided by the (insurance company name to be placed here) Car Hire. You are liable for any claims in excess of the insurance cover. Our hire car company does not provide insurance cover of any kind and we are therefore not liable for any damages that may occur in the event of an accident. CDW has no excess for groups. Driving on unpaved roads voids Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) coverage.
Theft Protection
In the event of theft or fire, you must contact the police and report the incident within 24 hours. You must also submit a copy of the police report, your rental agreement, and the vehicles keys to your car hire company. Responsibility is non-waiverable in case of theft or damages due to a theft attempt and therefore excess applies.
We do however offer Theft Protection cover (TP) which will reduce the hirer’s responsibility for loss or damage to the car following theft or an attempted theft.
Third Party Liability

Condition of the vehicle
The Vehicle must be returned in the same condition as when it was hired. Normal wear and tear is expected. |
